Twelve years after the wondrous Walking With Dinosaurs, the BBC has launched a fresh new voyage into the prehistoric era. There have been so many advances in CGI since 1999 that we are amazed to remember how largely Walking With Dinosaurs had relied on puppetry to bring dinosaur natural history into our homes. In a few short years, new breakthroughs in CGI made it possible for Primeval to deliver a different extinct species, sometimes several, in each episode. The field of paleontology has also enjoyed a wealth of new discoveries in the past decade, and Planet Dinosaur brings it all together in an immersive visual experience with jaw-dropping action and charismatic monsters like this Spinosaurus, which, according to recent findings, may have been the largest carnivore ever to walk the earth. Coming soon to the Discovery Channel, Planet Dinosaur will be available on DVD August 21st. The DVD also includes the behind-the-scenes program How to Build a Dinosaur.
