Series 1
Big Train steams out of the comedy tunnel as realism meets utter stupidity in a cavalcade of daft sketches performed by high-quality actors in a series of stunning costumes and vast sets reminiscent of the worst excesses of DW Griffith. There are also lots of sketches in offices. Along the way we meet shy policemen, pop stars chasing jockeys, a duck in danger, hens in armed combat, a confused Transport Minister, highly charged sexual politics and casual, though necessary, violence.
Series 2
The show scaling the utmost heights of surreal comedy returns, to everyone's relief. This new ferrago of random claptrap draws from the pedigree of such series as Father Ted, Spaced, Human Remains and Happiness. The show thrives on the subversion of everyday occurrences, mundane situations and famous faces.
If you've roar at Little Britain, Monty Python, Saturday Night Live or MAD TV get
on track for big laughs as some of the nuttiest sketches ever performed set
new records on the absurd meter. The inspired comic mayhem, from the creators of Father Ted, Graham Linehan and Arthur Matthews, includes hens in armed combat, Jesus vs. Satan, A Bee Gees vs. Chaka Khan gunfight, a foul-mouthed mermaid and contestants in the World Championship Stare-Out. "A sketch program
straight from the Monty Python mold of absurdist buffoonery" (Los Angeles Daily News). Nominated for a BAFTA? and a British Comedy Award for Best Male Comedy Newcomer (Simon Pegg, Shaun of the Dead).
