Investigative journalist Sarah Jane Smith, one-time companion to that strange wanderer in time and space known as the Doctor, is back for a second, expanded, series of alien-busting adventures. When Sarah's adopted son, Luke, first became part of Sarah Jane's life, he encountered a world of adventure - not just of dangerous aliens bent on invasion and destruction, but also an amazing world of wonder and excitement which showed him that the universe really is an amazing place. This is something that Sarah Jane is keen to keep from Bannerman Road, and Series Two's, newest addition, fourteen-year-old Rani Chandra and her parents Gita and Haresh. But sparky Rani is a wannabe journalist and, like Sarah Jane, is not the type to let a mystery go unsolved! Get ready for more danger, mystery and wonder as incomparable Sarah Jane Smith returns for a second series of the spectacular, thrilling children's drama from the makers of Doctor Who and Torchwood.

Season 1
Invasion of the Bane - Bubble Shock! is a new drink that is taking the world by storm. It's strangely addictive and everyone's drinking it. Sarah Jane is so fascinated by the phenomenon that she is almost oblivious to the arrival of her new neighbour, 13-year-old Maria Jackson, a young girl starting a new life with her father.
On her first night in her new house, Maria is woken by a bright light. Sneaking outside, she cannot believe her eyes - her eccentric neighbour Sarah Jane is face to face with what can only be an alien! But before she can investigate the strange goings-on at Sarah Jane's house, she is whisked off by her new friend, Kelsey, on a tour of the brightly coloured Bubble Shock! factory.
Meanwhile, Sarah Jane has decided there is something sinister about the factory and is trying to find out what the mysterious Mrs Wormwood is doing there. When an accident causes chaos at the factory, Maria discovers a boy with no name and finds her mysterious new neighbour in the midst of the mayhem. Sarah Jane is determined to deal with the threat from the Bane; Maria is desperate for answers, but Sarah Jane won't let her get involved. She works alone and won't put anyone else in danger.
However, some threats cannot be dealt with alone. As Maria sees more of this world of alien wonder, supercomputers and monsters, she and the nameless boy prove themselves to Sarah Jane - while Sarah Jane discovers that perhaps she's been on her own for too long. Sometimes a helping hand is needed, especially if they are to stop Mrs Wormwood and her evil plans for the human race.

Revenge of the Slitheen (Part 1) - It's Maria, Luke and Clyde's first day at their new school - and something is not quite right. There is a funny smell in the air and the new technology block is hiding some dark secrets. The friends soon make a shocking discovery: the Slitheen (an evil alien race) have disguised themselves as teachers as part of a deadly plan that threatens the future of the entire Earth.

Revenge of the Slitheen (Part 2) - Under attack from the monstrous Slitheen child, Maria, Luke and Clyde escape, thanks to some deodorant and Sarah Jane's sonic lipstick. Back in her attic, Sarah Jane's super-computer Mr. Smith reveals the aliens' evil plan to drain Earth of its energy. But as a power blackout spreads across the globe, Mr. Smith goes out of action. The gang must rely on their wits alone to stop the Slitheen from extinguishing the sun for ever.

Eye of the Gorgon (Part 1) - Sarah Jane and her young friends investigate reports of a ghostly nun which is haunting the local old folks' residential home. And when one of the elderly residents entrusts Luke with a mysterious alien talisman, it becomes clear there is even more to the story than meets the eye. The gang delves deeper, and discover that the nun is part of a secret order sworn to protect a terrifying alien creature who can turn her victims to stone with a single look.

Eye of the Gorgon (Part 2) - Maria's dad Alan has been turned to stone. The alien talisman is now in the possession of the Gorgon and her evil nuns, and they are preparing to open the portal to their world. Can Sarah Jane and her young friends free Alan from his stony state, prevent the nuns from unleashing more deadly aliens on the Earth, and avoid the Gorgon's petrifying gaze?

Warriors of Kudlak (Part 1) - Sarah Jane and Maria investigate the mysterious disappearance of local boy Lance Metcalf, and soon discover that a number of children have gone missing across the country. Remarkably, the disappearances all occurred during freak storms and in cities that are home to a laser tag game called Combat 3000. As Sarah Jane and Maria delve deeper into the mystery, Luke and Clyde are off enjoying a game of Combat 3000...

Warriors of Kudlak (Part 2) - A Carcaroth has arrived on Earth, seeking soldiers to help fight his endless intergalactic war back home. Using Combat 3000 to sift out the best, most aggressive and instinctive fighters, he then transports them to his spaceship - awaiting transfer to the war. Clyde and Luke find themselves amongst the ‘warriors', while Sarah Jane and Maria must infiltrate the alien's headquarters to bring down the Carcaroth from the inside.

Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? (Part 1) - Sarah Jane mysteriously disappears - just as a huge meteor threatens to crash straight into Earth. When Maria wakes up one morning, it's as though Sarah Jane - and Luke - never existed. Living across the road in Sarah Jane's house is a woman called Andrea (Jane Asher). And with the attic empty and Mr. Smith nowhere to be seen, every other trace of Sarah Jane has vanished - and Maria is the only one able to remember her. With the mysterious, hooded figure of the Trickster haunting Bannerman Road and the alien Graske meddling in time, Maria sets out to discover whatever happened to Sarah Jane. But as her journey takes her back to 1964, will she be able to find Sarah Jane in time to stop the meteor from destroying the world?

Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane? (Part 2) - Maria finds herself taken back in time by the alien Graske to a pier in 1964. There, she meets a young girl her own age called Sarah Jane Smith who, with her friend Andrea (Jane Asher), is about to embark on a fateful adventure. Taken by the Graske again, Maria is then reunited with the present-day Sarah Jane. But with them both trapped in limbo as part of the meddlesome Trickster's plan to wreak chaos, they are helpless to stop the huge meteor which is about to crash into the Earth. Maria's dad Alan is the only one able to remember Sarah Jane and Maria and faces a struggle to bring them back in time to save the world.

The Lost Boy (Part 1) - A news report on a couple looking for their missing son, Ashley, brings a surprise for Sarah Jane when she discovers that the missing boy looks exactly like Luke. And when Mr. Smith confirms that Luke is a genetic match with Ashley, Sarah Jane sends him back to live with his "parents". With no knowledge of his former life, Luke finds it hard to fit in and, when he tries to escape, he makes a startling discovery about who his parents really are. Sarah Jane, meanwhile, makes some investigations into the Pharos Para-Science Institute - a research unit that has been conducting experiments using alien technology. (Floella Benjamin guest stars as Professor Rivers.)

The Lost Boy (Part 2) - Maria and her dad, Alan, dig deeper into the mystery of Luke's new parents and discover that Luke has actually been kidnapped by the Slitheen. There are more shocks when Sarah Jane and Maria find out that Mr. Smith, Sarah Jane's super computer, is one of the bad guys. With Clyde nowhere to be seen, Luke in the clutches of aliens and no Mr. Smith to help, things are not looking good for Sarah Jane and Maria. But just what do the Slitheen want with Luke? And who, or what, exactly, is the Xylok?

Meanwhile, Maria wrestles with a huge decision when her dad is offered a new job in America.

The Last Sontaran (Part 2) - Sarah Jane and the gang have only 40 minutes to save Earth as Sontaran Commander Kaagh plots to bring the world's orbiting satellites crashing down on nuclear installations across the world. And Maria's Mum finally gets to the truth from Alan - but will they be in time to save Maria?

When Clyde's friend disappears, the trail leads them to a strange circus museum - and the legend of the Pied Piper!

The Day Of The Clown (Part 2) - Sarah Jane's investigation into Spellman and Odd Bob the Clown takes her to a meteorite at the Pharos Institute. But Spellman's plot to make all of Park Vale's pupils vanish leads Sarah Jane into a confrontation with her own childhood fears in a bid to save Luke.

Sarah Jane Smith (Elisabeth Sladen)
Sarah Jane Smith is well acquainted with saving the world. An old friend and companion of the Doctor, Sarah Jane has travelled the universe, solving mysteries, tackling monsters and fighting alien foe all the way. Her travelling days may be behind her, but as a journalist with a nose for trouble, Sarah Jane often finds herself on amazing adventures closer to home. With the help of her adopted son, Luke, his best mate Clyde and their new neighbour Rani, along with her sonic lipstick, and the alien computer Mr Smith, she must defend Earth from extraterrestrial threats and monsters.

Luke Smith (Thomas Knight)
14-year-old Luke Smith looks just like any other normal teenage boy, but look closer and you'll see that he's very, very special. Grown by the alien Bane as The Archetype in their plan for world domination, Luke has the brain power of 10,000 people but, as he's only really a year or so old, his understanding of the world around him is sometimes lacking. But he's a fast learner, and his intelligence often proves key in saving the day.

Clyde Langer (Daniel Anthony)
Clyde Langer is 15, confident and the team joker, happiest when taking on aliens and monsters to save the planet. He lives with his mum, loves football, has a flair for art (which he keeps quiet cos it's not always seen as that cool) and has a healthy disrespect for authority. When teamed with Luke's intelligence, Rani's instincts and Sarah Jane's experience, the friends are a force to be reckoned with.

Rani Chandra (Anjli Mohindra)
15, inquisitive, smart and sassy. Wants to be a journalist, a sort of junior Sarah Jane, and thus idolises Sarah Jane just a little and in return, Sarah Jane takes her happily on her investigations. Gets on well with her parents, although she's always embarrassed that her dad is the new Head Teacher at Park Vale. Rani enjoys Luke's company because they're both quite bright and eager to learn. However, she's equally fond of Clyde because he's cool and a bit rebellious, and has charm.

Gita Chandra (Mina Anwar)
Rani's mum is a strong-willed, independent businesswoman, who runs her own flower shop called Bloomin' Lovely. Gita really likes Sarah Jane - she appreciates the fact she wants to help Rani be a journalist. Gita is a lovely person, although she can occasionally be a little overpowering and tends to burst into things uninvited and not take the hint that it's time to leave.

Haresh Chandra (Ace Bhatti)
The new Head Teacher of Park Vale and Rani's dad, he can be prone to slight pomposity, due to the authority at the school. A great cook, he adores Rani and is very pleased that she has befriended Luke Smith, whose intelligence he respects. He's decidedly less impressed by her friendship with Clyde, who he sees as trouble and so always has one watchful eye on his daughter and the other on Clyde.
