Hugh Bonneville filmography
Timeless, razor-sharp British satire. Hugh Bonneville (Iris) captures the comic pathos of Charles Pooter, arguably the world's first blogger and literary progenitor of such characters as Michael Scott in The Office and Larry David in Curb Your Enthusiasm. The very picture of self-delusion, Pooter is obsessed with his own importance and his tenuous position in Victorian society. His diary-perpetually in print since first appearing in 1888 and adapted for TV by Andrew Davies - is a monument to middle-class striving and Pooter's pompsity. The opening lines set the tone for all to come: "Why should I not publish my diary? I fail to see-because I do not happen to be a 'Somebody'-why my diary should not be interesting." About 2 hours.
