Introducing Tony Ferrino: Who and Why?
At last - a collection celebrating the true comic craftsmanship of British comedy icon Steve Coogan! From Alan Partridge to Duncan Thicket and from Pauline Calf to Tommy Saxondale, the award-winning Coogan's outrageous, perfectly-observed, comic alter-egos have provided many of the funniest moments on British TV. This fantastic collection has them all - not just his iconic Partridge, Paul Calf and Tony Ferrino, but also cherished, one-off gems like Nathan Blaze, Gareth Cheeseman and Ernest Moss.
KNOWING ME, KNOWING YOU WITH ALAN PARTRIDGE
Before there was David Brent, there was Alan Partridge. Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge follows unimaginable antics of the incompetent host of the cheesiest talk show imaginable. Self-absorbed and handicapped with an ABBA fixation, Alan confronts an endless parade of C-list celebrities week after week with mounting frustration and antagonism.
I'M ALAN PARTRIDGE
Voted #7 in a UK poll of the 100 greatest TV characters of all time, Coogan's masterful portrayal of the vain, delusional and self-serving Alan Partridge has earned him a reputaiton as a comic genius and won him three British Comedy Awards and two BAFTAs. In this uproarious series, Partridge faces the aftermath of his fatal fall from TV stardom, and reluctantly returns to radio.
SAXONDALE
A world-traveled ex-roadie turned suburban pest-controller, Tommy Saxondale struggles to maintain his bad-boy image by railing against "the system," spreading his infinite yet inane wisdom of the rock ‘n' roll world and mocking his anger management group-therapy sessions.
DR. TERRIBLE'S HOUSE OF HORRIBLE
Steve Coogan takes on seven hilarious roles in this wicked celebration of the golden age of Hammer Horror. Step into a world of oriental opium fiends, bloodsucking beauties, witch-hunters and lizard men as the enigmatic and perverse Dr. Terrible introduces six truly diabolical tales of devilish doing.
THE TONY FERRINO PHENOMENON
Megastar Tony Ferrino is a man who stirs the loins of many, some of them even human. (Any passing resemblance to comedian Steve Coogan is not entirely coincidental.) First hitting the headlines in 1980, Ferrino fronted the hot new group Taxi-Taxi which was Portugal's first and only Eurovision Song Contest winner. Suddenly, all Europe was clamoring for Taxi-Taxi, and Ferrino (having dispensed with his two girl singers) has been wowing them ever since. Now, the BBC has given him his own special show, the most lavish and spectacular of all time!
COOGAN'S RUN
Coogan's Run contains six bizarre character-based adventures. Each story takes place in the fictional town of Ottle with Coogan taking the lead as a different character - although all the characters pop up and interact in each other's shows.
PAUL AND PAULINE CALF'S VIDEO DIARIES
Lager lout and philosopher Paul Calf records his video diary over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Accompanied by his friends Fat Bob and Roland and his sister Pauline, he staggers through two days of drinking, fighting and failed sex, in desperate pursuit of his ex-girlfriend, Julie.
PAUL AND PAULINE CALF'S CHEESE AND HAM SANDWICH
Coogan's philosophizing lager lout Paul Calf returns with his "dead sophisticated" sister Pauline, for a specially-written half-hour show recorded live at Liverpool's Neptune Theatre. Joined by failing wannabe comedian Duncan Thicket (who is still trying to perfect his craft), Paul pursues a new romantic interest played by Karen Taylor (The Sketch Show) and Pauline premieres her one woman show "Floss - The Story of Florence Nightingale."
