Jet jewelry and buttons, such as the antique button showcased here, became popular throughout Britain in 1861, when Queen Victoria went into mourning for Prince Albert. Dramatic and dazzling, jet has been fashionable ever since. Circling the hand-carved button, 36 black crystals sparkle on the brass base, stamped with vintage dies and suspended from a graceful filigree necklace.
